TCAN is a community network of residents, activists, faith groups, community organisations and businesses, based in Tollcross Edinburgh.
We arrange various events throughout the year, including the Winter Festival and Christmas Light’s switch on. Recently, we have organised ‘hustings’ for elections and an evening with the leader of the opposition at the Scottish Parliament.
In spring 2017 we will be opening our new Community Hub. Working with Citizens Advice Edinburgh and Tollcross Foodbank this will provide advice and support to local residents in need of a helping hand, advice, or maybe just a friendly cuppa.
If you or your organisation provides support or services which you think our Hub would benefit from we would love to hear from you.
We are also currently looking for volunteers to help staff the hub on Thursdays 10am-12pm. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more info.
In 2014, two pieces of community research carried out by the Adult Learning Project and Central Church explored the concerns of people living and working in the Tollcross area.
This found that issues such as housing, local services, employment and supporting older people in the community were important to residents
In response TCAN was founded. We are local people, working together to find practical solutions to issues affecting Tollcross and supporting an inclusive community.
